Biography

I know some of you already know who I am, but I thought it would be nice to create a biography of yours truly for the benefit of those who are not familiar with me.

To start off, I am seventeen years old as of today's date (January 26th, 2007) and a first honor student at my local Catholic high school. I am at the top of my class - fourth place last year, but the previous year second place. I am a captain of the Mock Trial team and I have been a mock lawyer since freshman year. I hold the board position of secretary of my school's chapter of National Honors Society. I am a member of the Forensics or public speaking team, which is undefeated for 22 meets (about 4 years). I am a founding ambassador and head ambassador of the student ambassador club in my school. Student ambassadors welcome incoming freshmen and go out to other schools and recruit incoming students. I am a freelance journalist for my school's newspaper, and I am on the yearbook committee, which encompasses many computer activities such as image design and page design. Lastly, I participate in our school’s ballroom dancing club – that is right, I can dance.

I have been working on websites and coding in various languages for about five years. I really started coding in HTML about five years ago, and since then, I have moved onto other computer languages. I mostly deal with HTML and CSS, but I can also debug in various other languages. I know some JavaScript and XML and of course some PHP.

My quest for computer knowledge is what really brought me to fix this game. I code websites and other various things, and like all designers, I have problems that I can't solve, so I sign up on a variety of help forums around the web. There was a link to a game called Solar Conflict on one of the forums I regularly visited. Incidentally, Solar Conflict is the foundation of City-Wars. This was the first Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game I had ever seen, and I was instantly addicted.

Throughout my time playing Solar Conflict, I witnessed the game take a steady nose-dive and watched the developer pretty much abandon the game. A few of us started up another spin-off game called Lunar Conflict, but during development the administrator and owner of the web space, domain, MySQL database, etc. had a little disagreement with most of the original players. To sum it up, all the players quit and then she decided to ban them, including myself, and the game failed.

Simultaneous to the above drama, the owner of Solar Conflict released his source code at an attempt to save the game. At that time, I had no real experience in PHP, so I just downloaded the source and tucked it away in some remote folder in my computer.

In the month of June 2006, I attempted to install the game and modify some of the variables. At the time, I only wanted to speed up game play, but, needless to say, I ran into problems installing it. (You know how hard it is to find free web space that supports PHP and has a MySQL database - it isn’t easy) So I kind of went out of my way and made my home PC a server, installed all the necessary software, and ran the game from my own computer. I played around with the code a bit, learned some PHP from an online manual, and found myself with a game and players that I could not abandon.

I have since modified the game, and switched the genre to an Ancient Greek theme. The game has come far since its opening. Players praise the game by saying “it is way better than Solar Conflict ever was.” All of this could not have been possible without all the dedicated players, and I thank them all.

Old people don’t need companionship. They need to be isolated and studied so it can be determined what nutrients they have that might be extracted for our personal use.
